Membership is open to women and men who hold an associate or equivalent, or baccalaureate degree from accredited universities or colleges. Those who are working toward a baccalaureate degree may become student affiliates. The branch member shall be entitled to vote, hold office and participate in all branch activities.

In principle and in practice, AAUW values and seeks a diverse membership. There shall be no barriers to full participation in this organization on the basis of gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or class.

A one-year membership includes membership in the South Lake Tahoe Branch, California AAUW and National AAUW, a subscription to the newsletter, “Women’s Words,” a South Lake Tahoe Branch Membership Directory, and email reminders of monthly programs. New members may join at any time during the year—sponsorship by another member is not required.
