The AAUW – South Lake Tahoe Branch is a branch of the American Association of University Women, a national organization of more than 80,000 members and supporters. Founded in 1881, the AAUW has been the voice heard at the national level promoting education equity for girls and women. The AAUW today seeks to continue to unite graduates of educational institutions and be a powerful advocate and visible leader in equity and education through research, philanthropy, and measurable change in critical areas impacting the lives of women and girls.
The South Lake Tahoe Branch is one of almost 100 branches in California. As an active branch of the California and National AAUW since 1964, our purpose is to promote equity, education, intellectual growth, individual worth, and development of opportunities for women and girls. We currently have approximately 30 members from both the California and Nevada sides of the south shore of Lake Tahoe.
AAUW California is the state’s most active and diverse organization for women with over 9,500 members in 116 branches, plus almost 2,000 members-at-large. In addition, there are 48 college and university campus partners throughout California. The state organization can be reached at http://aauw-ca.org.
The Nevada state organization can be reached at http://aauw-nv.aauw.net/.
Visitors and guests are encouraged to attend a meeting or two before deciding to join the organization. View our branch brochure at this link:
